Gifts: Parkview has benefited from tremendous generosity during the first year. The following have made donations (cash or goods) which exceed £100: Asda, Johnson Trust, Oakwood Superstores, Parkview PFA, Toyota, Servo, TTS Educational Suppliers. We have also received many smaller donations. We wish to express our thanks to all who have made donations. All gifts go into the Private School Fund, this fund is audited separately and is not included in the above.

Governor's expenses: The Governors have not claimed any travel or subsistence expenses in this financial year.

5. School Security

School Security has been a high profile issue for Governors in this first year. Everyone associated with the school was shocked and horrified by the three incidents of vandalism during the first term.

Our main concern has been the inadequate security fencing. Governors involved in the Temporary Governing Body during the construction of the school had already voiced their concerns about the inadequate fencing. Financial shortfalls were stated as the reason behind this.

Improvements in security that have been implemented:

· Action by Clare Griffiths, the Governors, Parents and Friends of the School persuaded Derby City Council to apply for extra Government funding which will enable the security fencing to be improved.

· Security cameras have also been installed as a result of the vandalism.

· Governors and pupils have canvassed the houses that overlook the School (Pentland Close, Pearl Close and a number of houses on Silverburn Drive). Residents were given information about Crime stoppers and asked to be vigilant on our behalf.

· As a result of Parental concern the Infant's Entrance gate is now padlocked shortly after children have arrived in the mornings.

6. Pupils with Disabilities and Pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The admission arrangements for pupils with Disabilities or Special Educational Needs are those applied by the LEA.

Pupils who have a 'Statement of Special Educational Needs', which the LEA considers can best be met in a particular school, will be given priority admission over all others. Pupils with a Disability and/or SEN that do not have a 'Statement' will be offered admission according to the LEA's order of priority for admissions.

The modern design of Parkview ensures that adequate access and facilities are provided for pupils in wheelchairs.

Parkview believes that all children have an entitlement to a broad, balanced, differentiated, relevant and accessible curriculum. The staff and governors have adopted and successfully implemented a school SEN policy this year. This policy was reviewed in February 2000, due to additional LEA information regarding SEN provision. The School will ensure all funding allocated for SEN is spent on appropriate provision for those children.

Additional Information is available in the full SEN policy, which is available within school.

7. Results of the National Curriculum Assessments of 7 Year Olds

The SATS (Standard Assessment Tasks) for Key Stage 1 Pupils (Yr. 2) were taken during May. At the time of publication of this report these results were not available.

If the results are available before The Annual Parent's Meeting on 22nd June they will be presented at this time.

If results are not available for the meeting, Governors will inform parents of the results when they do become available.

8. Targets for National Curriculum Assessments of 11 Year Olds

Attainment Targets for Key Stage 2 Pupils in 2001:

English 66%

Mathematics 70%

(%=Number of pupils expected to attain Level 4 or above, refers to present Yr. 5)

9. Results of the National Curriculum Assessments of 11 Year Olds

These tests were also taken during May of this year. At the time of publication of this report these results were not available. (See section 7 for details of result availability)

10. Professional Development of Teaching Staff

The Staff have undertaken an enormous amount of developmental training during this first year. They have received training through Inset, LEA courses and internal training led by staff with particular areas of expertise.

Teaching Staff have put a tremendous amount of effort and time (including out of school hours) to ensure that a full and balanced curriculum has been provided to all pupils.

Non-teaching staff and Governors have also undertaken training to develop a strong team, which has enabled the school to achieve "Investors in People". This is a considerable achievement in the short time that the school has been open.

11. Additional Information

It would be usual to provide Parents with details about dates of school holiday's community links etc. However, in view of the fact that all Parents should have recently received a copy of the School Brochure, we believe it is unnecessary to reproduce this information on this occasion.
