Who it's for
Students who have already
completed the Parkview Beginners course.
People wishing to extend
basic computing skills and gain a level 1 qualification.
What it's about
A 31/34 week course in
Computer Literacy and Information Technology.
CLAIT is a modular scheme,
split into separate skill areas. Students at Parkview will, at least, have
the option of Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases and Graphs.
To gain a full pass
certificate students must undertake, and successfully complete, at least 3
modules.
At Parkview students use
networked PC’s running Microsoft Windows and Office 97 Professional -
incorporating Word 97 (Word Processing), Excel 97 (Spreadsheets), Access
97 (Databases).
How you'll learn
Each of the chosen modules
are studied in turn. Students learn the skills and knowledge required to
pass the assessment, by working through a set of exercises at their own
pace, supported by the tutor.
Once they have completed the
exercises they will practice CLAIT tasks, again at their own pace.
Students can have as much practice as they require before attempting the
assessment. Students will be encouraged to take notes, which can be used
whilst on assessment. Assessments are taken as each module is completed
before moving on to the next.
Support may be on an
individual, small group or whole group basis, depending on the need at the
time.
The tutor will provide
continual, ongoing feedback so that the course can be tailored to meet a
student's individual requirements.
